If only McGruff were still around . . .

The New York City Police Department said a woman tourist from Illinois was the victim of a mugging that left her without a purse – and the dog treats inside – in New York’s Central Park on Tuesday.

According to reports, the thief made off with $20 and the golden retrievers’ nibbles at West Drive and 106th Street.

Neither the woman nor her two dogs were harmed. They did get a ride in an NYPD car during a search for the suspect, though no word on whether the windows were rolled down for the dogs at the time.

There were no details available on where the woman was from in Illinois.

The NYPD Crime Stoppers are looking for info at 800-577-TIPS.
