A man was hurt in a shooting in the South Side Englewood neighborhood Thursday morning.

The man, 36, was walking in the 5700 block of South Sangamon about 11:10 a.m. when he saw someone in a gray vehicle start shooting, police News Affairs Officer Ana Pacheco said.

He tried to run, but realized he had been shot in the calf, Pacheco said. He took himself to St. Bernard Hospital and was treated in good condition.

The man shot is a documented gang member, a police source said.
