Drivers should expect a handful of road closures this week on Mount Prospect Road in Des Plaines, and Oakton Street in Elk Grove Village as construction continues on the Jane Addams Tollway rebuilding and widening project.
Oakton Street will have lanes overnight Tuesday. The first lane will close at 6 p.m., and full roadway closures will soon follow. They are scheduled for 15-minute increments between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. Wednesday, according to the Illinois Tollway. The lanes will reopen at 6 a.m, in time for the morning rush.
Mount Prospect Road will have lanes closed overnight on Wednesday. The first lane will close in both directions at 5 p.m., and full roadway closures will follow, according to the Tollway.
These closures are also scheduled for 15-minute increments between 6 p.m. and midnight. The lanes will reopen no later than 5 a.m. Thursday, but not for long. One lane will close in both directions at 9 p.m. Thursday, and full road closures are scheduled between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. on Friday.
Electronic message signs will let drivers know of closures.
The $2.5 billion I-90 project is in its second phase. This phase will rebuild the eastern segment of I-90 and add a new lane, so there are four lanes in each direction between Randall Road and the Tri-State Tollway (I-294), according to the Tollway.
The project, which will also rebuild bridges between Route 53 and I-294, is scheduled for completion in 2016.
