Ongoing construction of the Peoria Street bridge on the Near West Side will require another round of lane closures starting Tuesday night on the Eisenhower and Dan Ryan expressways.

Weather permitting, lanes and ramp closures will be in effect from late Tuesday into early Thursday, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation.

Workers will be installing beams for the Peoria Street bridge over I-290 as part of the Jane Byrne Interchange Improvement Project, IDOT said.

Starting at 11 p.m. Tuesday, the left lane of the Eisenhower will be closed from Halsted to Peoria, IDOT said.

At midnight, the right lanes of both the southbound and northbound Dan Ryan (I-90/94) will be closed.

Between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m. Wednesday, the ramp from the southbound Kennedy (I-90/94) to the westbound Eisenhower will close. During the same time frame, there will be full closures of westbound Eisenhower and Congress Parkway.

The ramp from the northbound Dan Ryan to the westbound Eisenhower will also be closed intermittently for 15 minutes at a time between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m.

The same closures will take place Wednesday night into Thursday morning, IDOT said.

Drivers should allow extra travel time.
