A registered sex offender was arrested Saturday for not reporting to police that he’d left his Woodstock home for three days or longer.

Jose J. Quintero, 26, was arrested for unlawful failure to register as a sex offender, a Class 3 felony, police said. When he was 24, Quintero was convicted of child pornography, according to the Illinois Sex Offender Information.

Quintero, who was registered to live in the 100 block of West Willow Avenue in Woodstock, was arrested in the Chicago area after it was determined he was staying at a relative’s house “for a period of time greater than three days,” according to a statement from Woodstock police.

“Individuals who are required to register as a sex offender under the Illinois Sex Offender Registration Act must, within three days, register and report changes with the chief of police in the municipality in which he or she resides or is temporarily domiciled for a period of time of three of more days,” police said.

Quintero was being held on a $15,000 bond in the McHenry County Adult Correctional Facility in Woodstock, police said.

As of Monday afternoon, he was still in custody. He is next scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.
