Crate & Barrel names new CEO: report

Retailer Crate & Barrel has named Doug Diemoz its new CEO, effective Aug. 1.

Diemoz is chief development officer of Restoration Hardware, where he oversees the brand’s global expansion, Crain’s Chicago Business reported Thursday.

Northbrook-based Crate & Barrel has been without a permanent chief executive since August after Sascha Bopp was pushed out. Adrian Mitchell, who served as Crate’s interim CEO, will continue as chief operating officer and chief financial officer.

Founder Gordon Segal came out of retirement last year to act as a mentor to Crate’s leaders after the former CEO was fired in August 2014 after disappointing sales and employee discontent.
