Cubs fans don’t need to be reminded of how long it’s been since the team’s last World Series. They also haven’t forgotten how long it’s been since a trip to the playoffs.

For those fans, Thursday was an exciting night.

The Cubs released details on possible playoff tickets and sent an invoice to season ticket holders for the playoffs.

Tickets aren’t cheap, but as Crain’s Chicago notes, the prices will only go higher for those without season tickets.

Having the first crack at purchasing postseason tickets has been a key reason many Cubs fans have hung onto their season tickets while the team has struggled through an overhaul of its baseball operation the past three years. These prices are cheaper per game than what fans will pay for single-game tickets, and likely far cheaper than what buyers may end up paying on the secondary market if the Cubs find themselves playing in October.

Fans get a chance to not only look at first round ticket options, but all the way to the World Series.

The Cubs currently sit in the second Wild Card spot, three games ahead of the San Francisco Giants.

They still sit nine games behind the first place Cardinals in the N.L. Central.
