Chicago ranked as a top sports town

From the Super Bowl shuffling Bears to the 2005 White Sox magical World Series run, the Chicago Sports scene has been one of tradition and competitive greatness. A recent report has the Windy City ranked as one of the top sports towns in the country.

The ranking was based on metrics like performance level and average ticket prices. The weight assigned to each ranking corresponds with the total percentage of adults in the U.S. who claim to follow that particular sport.

Chicago place well in all categories, which denotes a well-rounded sports experience.

The Second City placed especially well in the hockey category, driven primarily by the Blackhawks and their recent success.

Although the city is known as a breeding ground for producing basketball stars — both collegiate and professional — Chicago was beat out by the likes of Denver, Boston, Atlanta and Dallas in the basketball rankings.

The top 10 best sports cities are Boston; Denver; East Lansing, Michigan; Pittsburgh; Washington, D.C.; Chicago; New York: Ann Arbor, Michigan; Minneapolis; and Philadelphia.

Chicago may have finished higher if the tickets weren’t so high to attend the games. But what do you expect from successful and proud franchises?
