There are few moral victories in the NFL, but lately the Bears (2-5) are winning everywhere except in the place where it matters.

The Bears’ Week 8 matchup with the Minnesota Vikings was lost on a last minute field goal (23-20) but Chicago has made improvements in each of its last four games (2-2).

Jay Cutler has been among the league’s best quarterbacks, Alshon Jeffery’s return has been has good as anticipated and the coaching staff has made the most of a roster devoid of much talent.

Even the team’s criticized offensive line is looking much better than it did at this point last season. According to Pro Football Focus, Bears offensive linemen Kyle Long and Matt Slauson were two of the top players in the trenches this weekend.

…On the right side, it was a nice effort from Long, who is starting to look like more than a makeshift tackle with his quality displays. The Bears, as we mentioned earlier, have had to move some pieces around on the line, so it must be refreshing to see how well guys like Slauson are doing when presented with a totally different challenge.

Perhaps the Bears will be able to get back on the winning side of things against the Chargers on Monday Night Football.
