Things were starting to look up for Bulls forward Nikola Mirotic. After a rough start to the season, Mirotic found somewhat of a rhythm and was even named to the NBA Rising Stars game during All-Star weekend.

However, Wednesday evening Mirotic was taken to the hospital to have his appendix removed. The forward will not only miss the All-Star event, but also two weeks of Bulls games.

Thursday, while recovering, Mirotic posted a picture of himself in a hospital bed and thanked fans for their support.

The 6-foot-10 Montenegrin looks more than a bit weary laying in the hospital. Mirotic went on to say he misses his team and hopes to return to the team quickly.

Mirotic had his best month of the season in January. His shooting percentage and points-per-game were up and his rebounds likely would have been a season high had he finished off the month.

In his place, the Bulls are still struggling to fill out a starting lineup. They will likely look to a number of different players to eat Mirotic’s minutes.
