Philadelphia Phillies second baseman Chase Utley cleared waivers on Tuesday, which makes him eligible for trade.

The Cubs are rumored to be in the market for a veteran second baseman and according to ESPN baseball analyst Jim Bowden, the Cubs are one of four possible suitors to acquire Utley.

The 36-year-old second baseman is hitting .196 with four home runs and 28 RBI in 70 games this season. But since returning from a sprained ankle injury, Utley is hitting .412 with three doubles and three runs scored.
