A 19-year-old North Side man died following a crash Tuesday in the Lincoln Square neighborhood.

Gilberto Martinez was driving in the 2600 block of West Lawrence about 10:15 p.m. when his vehicle hit a parked car, then struck a utility pole, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Martinez, 19, of the 6800 block of North Ridge, was taken to Presence Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston where he was pronounced dead at 4:09 a.m. Wednesday, the medical examiner’s office said.

An autopsy Thursday found that he died of multiple injuries from the crash, and ruled his death an accident, the medical examiner’s office said.

The police Major Accident Investigation Unit is looking into the crash.
