NASHVILLE – Notre Dame will have a new look for its final game of the season.
Malik Zaire will make his first start at quarterback when the Irish face LSU in Tuesday’s Music City Bowl.
Zaire gets the nod over Everett Golson, who started all 12 regular-season games but struggled at times with turnovers. Both will play against the Tigers.
“We want to put Malik in a position and really challenge him,” Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly said during a news conference at LP Field. “I’m very pleased with what Everett has done over the past two weeks. He’s made very good progress. We still have a great deal of confidence in his ability.
“I really want to challenge (Zaire) and put him in this kind of environment. He’s playing against a great defense in LSU and we’ll learn a lot about him.”
