Authorities are warning residents about a string of at least nine recent home burglaries in the Washington Heights neighborhood on the South Side.

All of the robberies happened in August in the 8800-9100 blocks of Morgan Street, and west to Throop Street, Morgan Park District police said in a community alert.

Most of the burglaries happened during the daytime and evening hours, police said. Each time, the suspects broke in through a window to steal items, then left through the back door.

Witnesses have reported between two and four men in theirs late teens to early 20s running from the scenes of break-ins, police said. Some of the suspects were wearing backpacks and running down alleys with stolen property.

Residents should make sure to secure all doors, windows and gates; and keep a record of serial numbers of electronic devices, police said.

Anyone with information should call detectives at (312) 747-8273.
