So much of the 2015 Cubs season has been about separating this team from the history of the franchise. However, there is a familiar face at Wrigley Field Monday night that fans may not love.

Former general manager and architect of the 2003, 2007 and 2008 postseason Cubs teams, Jim Hendry, is in attendance for Game 3 of the NLDS.

Hendry is now the assistant GM and special assignment scout for the Yankees, but with New York’s season over, Hendry has a little free time.

Then again, maybe he’s just checking in on his final first round draft pick, Javier Baez. He is, after all, the only Hendry draft pick still on the Cubs.

To his credit, Hendry’s playoff teams seemed ready to end the suffering of Cubs fans. However, his inability to draft and maintain a minor league system left the Cubs without young prospects for years.
