Joe Maddon is never afraid to try something a little adventurous during a baseball game. Tuesday night it paid off.

With Jorge Soler on third base and Miguel Montero on first, Dan Haren squared to bunt.

The bunt wasn’t perfect if the Cubs had the squeeze play on, but it did the job. Despite a clean toss from Taylor Jungmann, catcher Jonathan Lucroy couldn’t hang on while applying the tag.

Soler’s run was part of a three-run inning for the Cubs to give them an early lead.

This is Haren’s first start for the Cubs at Wrigley Field. He made his Cubs debut Wednesday against the Pirates.
