A man tried to sexually assault a jogger Sunday evening as she ran through a forest preserve near northwest suburban Elk Grove Village.

The 31-year-old victim was jogging near Grove No. 4 in Busse Woods when the man tried to attack her, the Cook County sheriff’s office said in a statement.

She used pepper spray to stop him, and was able to run away and call police, the statement said. She was treated and released at a hospital for minor injuries.

The suspect is described as a white man in his early 30s, about 6 feet to 6-foot-3, tall and cleanshaven, police said. He wore a black hooded sweat shirt and gray sweatpants.

Authorities have released a sketch of the suspect, and are increasing patrols in the area, the statement said. Anyone with information should call police at (708) 865-4896.
