A 55-year-old Cook County Jail inmate died in custody early Wednesday.

Dennis P. Connors was booked May 6 on a charge of aggravated domestic battery, and was being held on a $100,000 bond, according to the Cook County sheriff’s office.

He was pronounced dead at 3:50 a.m. at Cermak Health Services, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office, which listed his address at the jail near 26th and California.

An autopsy Thursday was inconclusive, with results pending further studies, the medical examiner’s office said.

A death investigation is under way, sheriff’s office spokeswoman Sophia Ansari said.
