Two men have been charged in connection with an armed robbery in south suburban Harvey earlier this week.

Around 9:15 p.m. Tuesday, the men approached two commuters at the 15400 South Park Avenue Harvey Metra platform with a handgun and demanded their belongings, according to a statement from Metra.

Wendel P. White, 18, and Jamaael Lawson, 18, both of south suburban Phoenix, then ran with cash, transit tickets and one of the victim’s cell phones, Metra said.

White and Lawson were charged on Thursday with 2 counts of armed robbery, a Class X felony, and were both scheduled to appear in Cook County Bond Court Friday.

Metra reminds riders to be aware of their surroundings and report any suspicious activity to Metra Police at (312) 322-2800.
