Boy, 17, shot in Austin

A teenage boy was shot Friday evening in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side.

About 8:45 p.m., the 17-year-old was standing in the hallway of an apartment complex in the 4800 block of West Adams, when a male entered and opened fire, police said.

The boy was shot in both arms and his lower left leg and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, were his condition stabilized, police said.

A police source said the boy is a documented gang member.
