White Sox prospect Courtney Hawkins homers off moving train

White Sox prospect Courtney Hawkins hit a home run that can possibly still be traveling.

Hawkins hit a two-run homer in the sixth inning, and it landed on an eastbound-moving train at Montgomery Riverwalk Stadium.

Montgomery Riverwalk Stadium’s left-center field wall is 380 feet, and the train tracks are well beyond the wall.

The 21-year-old outfielder is the White Sox’ No. 9 prospect and is hitting .255 with five home runs and 21 RBIs.

You can actually hear it, Hawkins said of the train. People let me know real quick. I wasn’t actually trying to hit it, but when it left the bat, you can hear everybody say, ‘Hit the train! hit the train!’ It was pretty cool. It was one of those feelings, you know when you make hard contact. The last time I hit anything was maybe [at Mary Carroll] High School at Cabaniss Field [in Corpus Christi, Texas].
