A Southwest Side man who was profiting off at least one woman’s prostitution has been arrested after an undercover officer set up a sting operation at a downtown hotel while the NFL Draft was in town last month.

Madison Reed, 30, of the 1800 block of South Hamlin, faces one count of promoting prostitution, a felony, according to a statement from the Cook County sheriff’s office. He was charged on May 20, his birthday.

On April 30, an undercover officer responded to an ad posted on Backpage.com, the sheriff’s office said.

The officer arranged a “date” with the woman in the ad at a downtown hotel during the week of the NFL Draft and, when she offered sex acts for money, she was taken into custody, police said.

Reed had been profiting off the woman’s prostitution, police said.

Reed also had an outstanding warrant for possession of a stolen vehicle and has been ordered held without bond at the Cook County Jail, the sheriff’s office said. He is next scheduled to appear in court June 15.
