Matt Forte invokes Michael Jordan while defending Robbie Gould

Throughout his career, Robbie Gould has been one of the best kickers in NFL history. The Bears kicker was nearly automatic every time he came on the field. Sunday’s performance would not fit that description.

Gould missed a pair of field goals against San Francisco Sunday afternoon, including a 36-yard kick as time expired that would have won the game. While Gould said he felt “terrible” about the way he played, his teammates came to his defense.

When asked about Gould’s missed kick, Matt Forte invoked an all-time great, but not a football player. The Bears running back dropped a Michael Jordan reference.

Unfortunately for Gould, his play this year more resembles Jordan’s time with the Wizards than his years with the Bulls. Gould has missed four field goals on the season, twice missing two in a game, and also missed an extra point.
