A 25-year-old man died after he was shot repeatedly late Saturday in the East Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side.

Officers responding to a call of shots fired about 10 p.m. in the 500 block of North Avers found Elbert Farris on the ground outside with multiple gunshot wounds, including at least one to the head, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

Farris, of the 800 block of North Latrobe, was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, the medical examiner’s office said.
