For as pretty as the first goal for the Blackhawks was, coming on a breakaway assist from Patrick Kane to Artemi Panarin, the Blackhawks second goal was pure grit.

With just a few minutes left in the second period, the Blackhawks extended their lead against the Penguins with a deflected goal from Jonathan Toews.

The lead closed out a second period that saw most of the action inside the Blackhawks zone, but Corey Crawford held Pittsburgh scoreless through two periods.

Unfortunately, that didn’t last long in the third period. The home team finally got on the board with a Sidney Crosby goal less than a full minute into the third.
