Trio accused of breaking into stores, video game machines

Three people are charged with breaking into video gaming machines in a string of burglaries across north suburban Lake County, authorities said Friday.

Deantea D. Williams, 18; Monique Greathouse, 20, and a male juvenile are all charged with multiple counts of burglary and theft, Lake County sheriff’s office spokesman Sgt. Curtis Gregory said.

They are accused of breaking into businesses and cracking open video gaming machines in a spree that affected stores in Round Lake Beach, Lindenhurst, Waukegan, Gurnee and unincorporated areas of Lake County, sheriff’s police said.

While inside, the suspects also stole merchandise and caused “extensive damage” to the businesses, police claim.

Bond was set on Saturday at $500,000 for Williams, of the 1400 block of North Berwick in Waukegan, police said. Greathouse, of the 2100 block of Winter Avenue in North Chicago, Saturday, was ordered held on a $350,000 bond.

The juvenile was not named because of his age, and is being held at the juvenile detention center in Vernon Hills, police said.

Williams is next scheduled to appear in court on April 2, while Greathouse is due on March 10.
