A woman was fatally struck by a vehicle Monday afternoon in the Avondale neighborhood on the Northwest Side.

The 71-year-old woman was struck about 2:45 p.m. in a parking lot in the 3200 block of North Milwaukee, police said.

She was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead, police said. The Cook County medical examiner’s office could not immediately confirm the fatality.

The 59-year-old woman behind the wheel was cited for negligent driving, police said.
