A 20-year-old man was stabbed and critically wounded during a robbery in the Sheridan Park neighborhood late Sunday on the North Side.

He was walking with a friend about 9:45 p.m. in the 1000 block of West Montrose when two people — one carrying a knife — walked up to them, according to Chicago Police.

One of them grabbed the 20-year-old’s wristwatch and the two began to fight, police said. The man was stabbed in the chest during the scuffle, and the robbers ran away west on Montrose with his watch and neck chain, police said.

The 20-year-old was taken in critical condition to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center.

No one was in custody Sunday night.
