Day-long ‘Make Music Chicago’ returns June 21

Make Music Chicago, the daylong, free, citywide music event celebration returns June 21 with more than 200 events at 100 sites. All part of the international celebration, “Fete de la Musique,” held yearly on the summer solstice, Chicagoans will be treated to music-makers of all ages, all skill levels, performing in public spaces including Millennium Park’s Wrigley Square, Maggie Daley Park, Pritzker Pavilion, the Chicago Riverwalk, Chicago Symphony Center, Daley Plaza, Lyric Opera House, Lincoln Park Zoo, the Museum of Contemporary Art, Old Town School of Folk Music and more than 30 Chicago Park District sites, among others.

Highlights include free performances from the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Civic Orchestra of Chicago; Grant Park Orchestra; Lyric Opera’s Patrick G. and Shirley W. Ryan Opera Center; Sones de Mexico Ensemble; more than 10 play-along events including the Rise and Shine Orchestra with members of Chicago Symphony Orchestra; numerous family events including the Suzuki Play-along for kids and the return of Pianos in the Parks, according to the schedule released today.
