A person was shot Friday afternoon in northwest Indiana.

Officers responding to a call of a crash at 4:10 p.m. near Grant Street off Interstate 80/94 found a male, whose age was not immediately known, inside a vehicle with a gunshot wound, according to Gary police. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Police said the shooting was related to a call of shots fired they received earlier near the 3500 block of Tyler Street.
