A man was shot during an attempted robbery Friday morning in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side.

The 54-year-old was walking out of a gangway in the 5600 block of South Lowell about 7:10 a.m. when a male approached him and demanded money, according to Chicago Police. When the victim said he didn’t have any money, the robber shot him.

The man was shot in the lower left side of his back and taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, police said.
