A 34-year-old man was found shot to death Friday morning in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side.

Officers responding to a call of shots fired in the 7400 block of South Morgan found Kenneth D. Whitaker on a sidewalk with gunshot wounds to the head and wrist, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Whitaker was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:08 a.m., authorities said. He lived in the 7000 block of South Paulina.

Area South detectives are conducting a homicide investigation.
