A 67-year-old man died after a boat crash Friday afternoon on the Fox River near northwest suburban Trout Valley.

The boat crashed bow-first into a concrete pier and post in the river near the 200 block of River Road in Trout Valley about 3 p.m. Friday, according to the McHenry County sheriff’s office.

A Port Barrington man, the only person aboard, was thrown into the water, according to police. Two citizens rescued him from the water and were giving him CPR when deputies and fire crews arrived.

He was taken to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington, where he was pronounced dead, according to the statement. His name was not released Monday afternoon.

There were no signs of foul play, drugs or alcohol, according to police.

Trout Valley is about two miles northeast of Algonquin. The investigation is ongoing by the sheriff’s office and Lake County coroner’s office.
