Two men were shot Monday afternoon in the West Englewood neighborhood on the South Side.

The men, 29 and 24, were in a vehicle about 4:20 p.m. traveling in the 6900 block of South Ashland when someone nearby opened fire, according to Chicago Police.

The 29-year-old got out of the vehicle with a gunshot wound to the left leg and ran to the 6800 block of South Throop. From there, he was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where his condition was stabilized, police said.

The younger man was shot in the back and drove himself to Holy Cross Hospital. He was then transferred to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition stabilized.

A police source said both men are documented gang members.
