A woman was shot during a robbery attempt early Tuesday in the West Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side.

The 25-year-old was walking in the 300 block of South Kolmar about 2:50 a.m. when two males walked up and announced a robbery, according to Chicago Police. When she refused to hand over her purse, one of the males pulled out a gun and fired shots.

The woman suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where her condition was stabilized, police said.
