A naked man caused a disturbance Monday morning when he stole a landscaping truck from the Gold Coast neighborhood, crashed it on Lake Shore Drive, then jumped into Lake Michigan, police said.

Peter Hendryx, 32, was charged with one misdemeanor count of criminal trespass to vehicle, and was cited for failure to carry a license, operating a motor vehicle without insurance, and leaving the scene of an accident, according to Chicago Police.

Officers responded to a well-being check for a man not wearing any clothes and causing a disturbance in the 100 block of East Delaware Place a few minutes after 7 a.m., according to police.

The man stole a landscaping truck and headed for Lake Michigan, causing a crash on Lake Shore Drive, police said. He ran away after the crash and jumped into the lake.

He was pulled from the lake at Monroe Harbor and was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital for evaluation, according to police and the Chicago Fire Department.

Hendryx, of the 2600 block of South Potomac, posted 10 percent of a $2,000 bond and was released Tuesday afternoon, according to police records.
