A man was shot in the South Shore neighborhood Wednesday afternoon.

The 26-year-old was outside in the 1600 block of East 69th Place about 4:54 p.m. when he was shot in the back, police said.

A friend drove him to Jackson Park Hospital and Medical Center, police said. He was later transferred to Stroger Hospital in critical condition.
