No jail time for man who sold gun used to kill Endia Martin

A man who illegally sold the gun later used to kill 14-year-old Endia Martin in 2014 will not serve any prison time but was sentenced to probation this week.

Robert James pleaded guilty Monday to disorderly conduct for falsely reporting an offense and selling a firearm without a valid FOID card, both felonies, according to Cook County court records.

The gun James sold illegally, and then reported stolen, was used on April 28, 2014, by a 14-year-old girl to fatally shoot Endia in the 900 block of West Garfield, authorities said at the time.

The gun was obtained by her uncle, Donnell Flora, who was convicted of murder and sentenced to 100 years in prison in March, the Sun-Times previously reported.

His cousin, Vendetta Redwood, handed the 14-year-old girl the gun and told her to “shoot the b—-.” Redwood was indicted in February on federal charges of supplying the gun.

The shooter, now 16, is awaiting trial in juvenile court.

Judge Mary Margaret Brosnahan sentenced James to two years’ probation.
