A man who was fatally struck by a CTA Red Line train last week on the South Side has been identified.

Steven T. Matthews, 47, was found dead on the tracks at the 87th Street station in the first block of West 87th Street about 7 a.m. July 6, according to Fire Media Affairs and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Matthews, of the 8000 block of South Ingleside, died of multiple blunt force injuries due to being struck by the train, according to the medical examiner’s office. His death was ruled an accident.
