A man was critically wounded in a shooting Friday afternoon in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side.

The 22-year-old was outside in the 5400 block of West Iowa at 12:16 p.m. when someone wearing a mask walked up to him, pulled out a gun and started shooting, according to Chicago Police.

The man was shot in the right arm, chest, groin and buttocks, and was driven to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park by a good Samaritan, police said. He was then transferred to Stroger Hospital, where he was listed in “critical but stable” condition.

A police source said the man is a documented gang member and the shooting might have been gang-related.
