A 43-year-old man was shot while driving in the Austin neighborhood early Saturday on the West Side.

A group of gunmen opened fire from a sidewalk about 2:30 a.m. while the man was behind the wheel in the first block of South Leamington, according to Chicago Police.

He was shot in the left leg and kept driving to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, police said.
