Former “Friends” star and Lookingglass Theater co-founder David Schwimmer came to the aid of a Kickstarter campaign to help fund the Studs Terkel Radio Archive, a cooperative project between the Chicago History Museum and WFMT Radio.
According to Rob Feder:
WFMT Radio Network surpassed its goal of raising $75,000 three days before the February 25 deadline. As of early Wednesday, more than $84,000 had been pledged. Among more than 640 people who contributed to the Kickstarter campaign was Schwimmer. … A station representative called Schwimmer’s donation a particularly timely large gift, but said she could not confirm the exact amount.

The free, public digital archive will feature nearly 6,000 hours of Terkel’s radio interviews, taped from 1952 to 1997 at WFMT FM 98.7.
Terkel, a Chicago icon and Pulitzer Prize-winning author passed away in 2008 at the age of 96.
Schwimmer is currently starring in the HBO 10-episode drama “The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story.”
