Police warn about thefts from vehicles on Near West Side

Chicago Police are warning about a string of recent thefts from vehicles on the Near West Side.

In each theft, the suspect targeted vehicles with visible purses, laptops and bags and broke a window or opened an unlocked car door to take the items, according to a community alert from police.

The thefts happened:

  • at 1:17 a.m. July 15 in the 1300 block of West Randolph;
  • about 4:30 a.m. July 13 in the 1900 block of West Fulton;
  • about 1:30 p.m. July 12 in the 1200 block of South Oakley;
  • about 3:40 p.m. July 11 in the 1000 block of North Mozart; and
  • about 9:20 a.m. June 30 in the 300 block of South Loomis.
