A person was shot to death late Monday in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side, police said.

Officers responding at 11:48 p.m. to a call of a person shot in the 6300 block of South Parnell found a male lying in the street with a gunshot wound to the head, according to Chicago Police.

The male, whose age was not known, was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said. The Cook County medical examiner’s office could not immediately confirm the fatality.

Additional information was not available early Tuesday as Area South detectives conducted a homicide investigation.
