A teenager was fatally shot Monday night in the West Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side.

Officers responding about 9:25 p.m. to a call of a person shot in the 4400 block of West West End found 17-year-old Darrell Peden lying in the street with gunshot wounds to the torso, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Peden, who lived in the 4600 block of West West End, was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 10:10 p.m., authorities said.

The 59-year-old was found about 7 p.m. in the 6700 block of South Chappel Avenue with a gunshot wound to his abdomen, police said.
