A Hegewisch neighborhood man was killed in an accident at a River West construction site Friday morning.

Miguel Chaidez, 34, was working at 650 N. Morgan St. when he was hit in the head with a large object just before 10 a.m., according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Chaidez was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he died at 12:38 p.m., authorities said. He lived in the 13200 block of South Houston.

An autopsy Saturday found he died of head trauma in an industrial accident.

Area Central detectives have launched a death investigation. A representative for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration could not immediately be reached for comment Saturday.
