CLEVELAND – Rep. Luis Gutierrez D-Ill., a strong and early supporter of Hillary Clinton, will be speaking at the Democratic National Convention next week in Philadelphia, a campaign official told the Sun-Times.

Gutierrez stumped for Clinton and was with her in Chicago rallying the Hispanic vote the day before the March Illinois primary, where she faced a stronger-than-expected challenge from then rival Sen. Bernie Sanders.

The Democratic convention in Philadelphia kicks off next Monday, with first lady Michelle Obama and Sanders the keynote speakers.

The GOP convention closes in Cleveland on Thursday night with no speakers from Illinois making it to the the podium.
