Police are warning residents about a series of armed robberies reported in the past week on the South Side.

In each hold-up, two or three men approach the victims, display a handgun and demand money or other valuables, according to a community alert from Chicago Police.

The robberies occurred:

  • In the 8000 block of South Vincennes about 4:30 a.m. July 16;
  • in the 7900 block of South Vincennes about 9 p.m. July 16;
  • in the 100 block of East 79th about 3:40 a.m. July 19; and
  • in the 7900 block of South Vincennes about 4:30 a.m. July 19.

The suspects are described as two to three black men between 20 and 30, police said. They stood between 5-foot-10 and 6-foot-7 and weighted 140-230 pounds. They might be driving a silver van or a black SUV.
