An Illinois man died early Saturday after he was shot in northwest Indiana.

Police responded at 11:23 p.m. to the 1100 block of Porter Street in Gary and found a 20-year-old man who suffered gunshot wounds, according to Gary police.

Samuel Williams was pronounced dead just after midnight Saturday, according to the Lake County Indiana coroner’s office. His death was ruled a homicide.

Williams lived in downstate Mount Vernon, according to authorities.

Additional details were not available Saturday morning.
