A 20-year-old man was shot and critically wounded Sunday night in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood on the South Side.

He was walking in the 8500 block of South Ashland about 8 p.m. when someone walked up, tried to rob him and then shot him repeatedly, according to Chicago Police.

He was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in critical condition, police said.
